This blockbuster event will illuminate Franklin Square with all new culturally-inspired lantern sculptures, performances and handcrafted keepsakes by Chinese folk artists, the Dragon Beer Garden, and much more. The festival in 2018 featured 28 different lanterns 1,500 different artworks and utilizes 15,000 LED lights. Visitors can also dine on Asian cuisine, American favorites, and other festival fare. The 18-hole course features reproductions of Philadelphia icons and landmarks such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Ben Franklin Bridge, the Liberty Bell, and the Chinatown Friendship Gate. So, if you’ve visited in the past, it’s well worth taking the time to visit again.

Now in its 4th consecutive year, the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival transforms Philadelphia’s Franklin Square into a dreamlike garden, filling it with massive lantern displays that celebrate the cultural traditions of China.

The Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival casts a warm glow that can pierce through the darkness like none other. If you can’t visit in the evening or just have a passing interest in seeing the lanterns, the park is open for free during the day. If you can, visit on a weeknight, not only is it less crowded, but you’ll save a few dollars on your ticket costs and don’t have to worry about arriving at a certain time.

From 6 pm to 10 pm every Monday to Friday, and from 6 pm to 11 pm on Saturday and Sunday, visitors can enjoy a variety of colorful lanterns and decorations full of rich Chinese culture in the square. If this event will be held again next year, I hope the ticket price goes down considerably. Hop on Center City’s only carousel featuring hometown heroes Afleet Alex, Smarty Jones, and other animals.
